Matchday
Matchday provides opportunity to see individual, team improvements and the transfer of learning from the training environment into competitive games. It is crucially important that the adults involved create a safe, positive environment where players are encouraged to express themselves. Our coaches will make decisions on match-days that prioritise player development.
Encouragement, not instructions
Coaches will encourage players and provide lots of positivity from the touchline. We aren’t “joystick coaches” dictating players’ every move; instead, we let them make their own decisions and learn from mistakes.
Being brave on the ball
We encourage our players to take risks on the ball, especially at younger age groups. We want all of our players to develop the skills and confidence to stay on the ball for as long (or as little) as they choose.
Rotation and playing time
Our coaches follow guidelines to ensure age-appropriate rotation of positions and playing time.
